Bahamians have turned this mere sea mollusk into a versatile delicacy through the many ways we prepare it. Battered and fried, raw in salads, cooked in stews, and grilled to name just a few.
Our cultural admiration for this sea creature partially stems from the British Parliament taxing the Bahamians on their food. Bahamians' response to this was that they'd rather eat conch than pay taxes. I appreciate Bahamians' will to pivot when it comes to something so important to us, food! 😂
